Mark Wahlberg To Star In BROKEN CITY
We are going to be seeing a whole lot of Mark Wahlberg on the big screen.
Recently it was confirmed that he will be reteaming with director David O. Russell for the video game adaptation ofUncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Wahlberg has now revealed that he’s also looking to take on a neo-noir film called Broken City set to be directed by Allen Hughes of the Hughe’s Brothers (Book of Eli).
Here’s what Wahllberg told MTV in a recent interview:
“There’s this other thing, ‘Broken City,’ that I want to do… at the end of next year with Allen Hughes directing,” Wahlberg said, “[It’s] on the Black List. It’s one of the best unproduced screenplays… [It’s] an amazing piece of material that should attract amazing talents. Hopefully we’ll get that thing together.”
Broken City was written by Brian Tucker, and it centers on a cop-turned-P.I. who finds himself thrust into the seedy backroom politics of a corrupt mayoral election. Wahlberg goes on to explain, “It’s in the same vein as those old classics,” comparing it to Chinatown and the more contemporary L.A. Confidential.
I am a huge fan of film noir and neo noir so this sounds like a good bit of casting news in my mind. What are your thoughts of this news, do you think Wahlberg is a good fit for this type of role?
