Bryan Singer Using Red EPIC Cameras & Natural Light To Film JACK THE GIANT KILLER

It looks like Bryan Singer can be added to the list of directors that has announced they will be using the Red EPIC Camera to film their next movie.

Singer announced via a message on the Red web forum that he will film Jack the Giant Killer in 3D using the EPIC Camera and that he was doing something different with the lighting.

Here’s the message he posted:

I’m very much looking forward to using the EPIC Red for my next movie Jack the Giant Killer which will be shot in, what else, 3D. The camera’s incredibly compact size and extraordinary resolution are ideal for the 3D format.

But more importantly Jack the Giant Killer is my first movie set in a time before electricity. The EPIC’s extraordinary exposure latitude will allow me to more effectively explore the use of natural light.

The story starts after a princess is kidnapped which ends up threatening the long-standing peace between humans and giants.  A young farmer is then forced to lead a rescue mission to the giants’ kingdom. The top contenders to play the farmer are Aaron Johnson and Nicholas Hoult.
Initially it was slated to begin filming in July, but after realizing the number of visual effects involved Warner Bros.has pushed filming back to early 2011. Christopher McQuarrie has used the down time to re-work the script. McQuarrie has worked with Singer on The Usual SuspectsValkyrie and The Wolverine.
