BAKUGAN Getting The Big Screen Treatment!

The Karate Kid remake director Harald Zwart is set to direct a feature film adaptation of the popular strategic game and anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers.

Here is a description of the story:

Dan Kuso and his five on-line friends started playing Bakugan when game cards inexplicably fell from the sky. Using combinations of cards and special marbles that turn into monsters, they fight duels and win points. Dan loudly proclaims he’s going to become the all-time champion. He and his friends learn that Bakugan monsters have lives in the dimension of Vestroia. But the mysterious gamer Masquerade is destroying the monsters he defeats by sending them to the Doom Dimension.

I skipped seeing the big screen adaptations of Avatar The Last Airbender and Dragonball Z because those films looked as though they did not do the source material justice and they looked horrible. I worry that this film will be just as bad!
Zwart’s past films have included Agent Cody Banks and The Pink Panther 2. I did not see those films, but I liked The Karate Kid remake.
What do you think about Zwart directing the film adaptation of Bakugan?
