PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 & 6 Are Planned To Be Shot Back-To-Back
Filming has ended for Rob Marshall‘s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Even though the film is currently in post production, Disney wants to make two more Pirates of the Caribbean films, and they want to shoot them back-to-back.
HitFix reported:
“Disney has begun quietly telling cast and crew to set aside a major block of time in the very near future so they can shoot “Pirates 5” and “Pirates 6.” And, yes, once again, they will be shooting them back-to-back as one giant film, and then they’ll release them as two films.”
I have to admit this is not news that I am pleased with. Not only am I tired of this franchise I would think that Johnny Depp is likely getting tired of playing Captain Jack Sparrow? After six films, this character will define Depp’s career. I guess films like this allow Depp to do cool films like Tim Burton‘s Dark Shadows, and Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger.
Do not get me wrong, I am going to see On Stranger Tides, but I’m not really that excited for it. If The Pirates of the Carribbean franchise was more gritty and violent then I might like it. For that to happen it would not be made at Disney.
What are your thoughts on the fact that Disney is looking to make two more Pirates films?
