Shia LaBeouf Interested In Role In Oliver Stone’s PINKVILLE

Shia LaBeouf is interested in re-teaming with Oliver Stone for the upcoming Vietnam War drama Pinkville.

The news was revealed by Stone during his commentary track on the Blu-ray release of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps that they had discussed the possibility of reteaming for Pinkville during filming of the sequel. Stone stated that LaBeouf is interesting in exploring the subject matter because his father was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam.

Stone had planned to start filming Pinkville in Southeast Asia in December 2007, but the film was set aside becaues of the upcoming Writers Guild strike. At the time the cast included Bruce WillisChanning TatumMichael PenaWoody HarrelsonXzibitMichael PittToby JonesJason Behr and Cam Gigandet.

It is not know what role LaBeouf is interested in playing, but based on his age and fathers role in the war as a chopper pilot it is likely that he would want to play Hugh Thompson, the role Tatum was initially set to play. Thompson was the heroic U.S. Army helicopter pilot that put his helicopter in front of the villagers to stop the My Lai Massacre where G.I.s shot and killed as many as 500 unarmed villagers, many of them women, children and the elderly.

This sounds like a pretty cool role, and I would love to see LaBeouf in it. Stone definitely has a command of the subject matter from past personal and directorial experience. It would be wonderful if they could get as many of the past cast involved again. Oliver Stone is the type of director that can pull together that type of cast again I believe.
