Viggo Mortenson & Javier Bardem Rumored To Be Fruntrunners For Role In THE DARK TOWER

The New York Post is reporting that Viggo Mortenson and Javier Bardem are currently the frontrunners for the lead role of Roland Deschain in Ron Howard‘s film/TV adaptation of the Stephen King‘s The Dark Tower series.

Bardem is apparently the studios first choice, while Mortenson is a close second. I think that Mortenson is perfect for the role.

The claims by The Post have not been substantiated, so consider this a rumor for now. They are also reporting that “agents are tripping over themselves to land their clients coveted roles in what promises to be a blockbuster film and television franchise.” This is going to be a huge hit, so that is completely understandable.
The plan to adapt this classic book series will begin with a feature film, from there Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman  will do a full season of TV episodes as a bridge to the second feature. We will then see the second film hit the big screen, and after the sequel is released we will see another season of The Dark Tower on TV. This season will focus on Deschain as a young gunslinger. The storylines will be taken from the prequel comic book series that King was heavily involved with. Then we will get the third and final film which will pick up with a mature Deshain as he completes his journey.
Who would you like to see in the lead role for this series?
