Finland’s RUBIK Announce First US Tour in Support of "Solar" Kicking off 10/22!

Finland’s RUBIK announce the first US tour in support of their third full-length studio album – Solar. Kicking things off on October 22nd at Sonar in Baltimore, this orchestral indie rock band has been super busy since the Spring 2011 release of Solar.
They’ve spent the Summer touring Europe and performing at the top festivals including Primavera (alongside James Blake, tUnE-yArDs, PJ Harvey, etc.), Flow Festival (alongside Kanye West, Warpaint, Janelle Monae, etc.), Provinssirock Festival (alongside The Sounds, The Vaccines, Social Distortion, etc), Incubate Festival (alongside Battles, Screaming Females, Wooden Shjips, etc). After a summer of blowing away festival goers across Europe, Rubik is thrilled to bring their live show to the US in support of Solar.
Rubik released their third full-length studio album Solar (and second for the US) this past Spring on Paper Tiger/Fullsteam Records receiving praise from Mashable (“…perfect summer listening.”), BlackBook (“It’s wonderfully, singularly madcap.”), RCRD LBL (“…likely cure the world of depression for good.”), and Zink (“…impressive…”) among others. Solarwas conceived in Helsinki’s Kulttuuritalo (“House of Culture”), a historical brick-walled venue designed by Finnish architect giant Alvar Aalto in the 1950’s. Kulttuuritalo is best known for hosting concerts of legendary artists such as John Coltrane, Queen, Frank Zappa, Gil Evans and Jimi Hendrix. Solar was produced and recorded by the band themselves and mixed by Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, Gnarls Barkley). The album follows the release of the critically acclaimed sophomore album Dada Bandits. Out September 2009, Dada Bandits was the band’s US debut and earned them numerous accolades as well as coveted sessions for Daytrotter and KEXP.
The upcoming tour finds Rubik paired with electro-pop artist Lights. US audiences will be able to experience what European audiences haven’t gotten enough of this past summer, Rubik’s lively eccentric performances.
