WB teams with J.K. Rowling for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Film Series
J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros are joining forces once again. The Wrap reports that they have teamed on a new film series that will be set in the world of witches and wizards, and is inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The original story for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be the screenwriting debut of Rowling. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will not be a Harry Potter prequel or a sequel , but will venture deeper into the wizarding world.
Here is what Rowling said in a statement:
“The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”
Harry Potter grossed $7.7 Billion worldwide so it makes sense that WB would want to revisit the universe. Fantastic Beasts will be developed into a video game, consumer products and other markets, which will surely bring in tons of money.
