By day Gerri Dandridge is a sexy professor, but by night she transforms into a real-life vampire with an unquenchable thirst for human blood. So when a group of high school students travel abroad to study in Romania, they find themselves ensnared in Gerri’s chilling web of lust and terror. Charley and “Evil” Ed must stop Gerri from drinking and bathing in the blood of a “new moon virgin,” which just so happens to be Charley’s ex-girlfriend, Amy. They enlist help from Peter Vincent, the vampire hunting host of a reality show called “Fright Night,” to drive a stake through Gerri’s plan and save Amy from a fate far worse than death.
A New Neighbor
In the beginning of the movie, Charley Brewster’s former best friend approaches him, warning that the neighbor who just moved in next door is likely a vampire. The new neighbor, Jerry, is intriguing and attractive, making girls swoon. Ed says that many of their fellow students have disappeared from class and that their Las Vegas suburb is no longer safe. Of course, Charley doesn’t believe him until Ed doesn’t show up to school the next day.
Unveiling a Secret
With Ed still missing and more neighbors disappearing each day, Charley decides to break into his neighbor’s house. Inside, Charley discovers many secret rooms in which victims are locked up. With nowhere else to turn, Charley heads to downtown Las Vegas to seek advice from Peter Vincent, the well-known vampire expert. Unfortunately, Peter is not exactly the brave role model he appears to be.
Things Heat Up
Jerry sets the house on fire and Charley, his mother, and his girlfriend, Amy, are stuck inside. After narrowly escaping the flames, the three jump into the car and head to the desert to make it as far away from Jerry as possible. However, Jerry quickly catches up to them and puts a stop to their escape. Charley’s mother injures Jerry with a wooden stake from a real estate sign, but she is severely wounded herself and must be admitted to the hospital.
Peter’s Penthouse
Charley and Amy head to Peter Vincent’s penthouse one final time. But, it’s a set up and Jerry is there ready to attack. This time, he’s not alone; Evil Ed is there as a vampire. Charley is forced to kill his best friend while Amy deters Jerry with holy water. They escape to a Vegas dance club but are separated by the large crowds. From across the dance floor, Charley witnesses Jerry bite Amy. Charley finds Peter once more and asks for his help, but Peter refuses, stating that his parents were both killed by vampires.
In the Basement
Determined to save his girlfriend, Charley heads to Jerry’s house with a special wooden stake. He is joined last minute by Peter, who has had a change of heart. In the basement of the house, Charley and Peter come across a slew of people who have been turned into vampires, including Amy. Charley and Peter team up to take down Jerry with sunlight, flame, and the wooden stake. When Charley stabs Jerry in the heart with the stake, all of the victims are turned back to their human form. After everything is settled down, Charley’s mother is released from the hospital and all returns to normal.
