I loved The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It was a huge improvement over the first film, and continues to rake in money at the box office. Many would say that an improvement does not mean it was a great movie. Sure the films have been too long, and I wonder what the extended or directors cut will clock in at. I like to look at the big picture and try to see the trilogy as a whole, which is why I will only buy the box set with each film in the trilogy.
