FARGO Remastered Edition Blu-ray Review
Fargo remastered edition was released this month from MGM. The 1996 film is written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, the film stars William H Macy, Frances McDormand, Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare.
The remastered Blu-ray is a must-own for fans of the Coen brothers and/or the fantastic cast of character actors. Macy, Buscemi and McDormand make Fargo one of the best Coen brother films. When Jerry Lundergaard plots to have his wife kidnapped one bad thing happens after another when he hires two bumbling cons to do the job. What should have been a non-violent kidnapping (as much as that is possible) turned into a situation with multiple deaths.
Roger Deakins‘ (Skyfall, No Country For Old Men) has once again done a superb job of capturing the beauty of the wintery locale. You might think that a dreary locale like Minnesota in winter would be difficult to work with, but Deakins is able to make the film look fantastic. Carter Burwell‘s (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths) score is also a thing of beauty. The remastered Blu-ray presents their work in the best way I have seen it since the film was released.
Synopsis:
The “middle of nowhere” has never looked better in this new edition, now remastered for the best high-definition picture yet! In this film Nominated for seven OSCARS®, * things go terribly awry when small-time Minnesota car salesman Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) hires two thugs (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife so he can collect the ransom from his wealthy father-in-law. Once people start dying, the very chipper and very pregnant Police Chief Marge (Frances McDormand) takes the case. Will she stop at nothing until she gets her man? You betcha.
