THE SILENCING – Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Delivers a Powerful Performance

The Silencing is one of those films that sticks with you. I can’t stop thinking of this movie after I watched it a couple of days ago.

A thriller is much like an onion. As the film progresses, the layers are peeled and a new element is revealed. The Silencing is a slow burn that has so many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau puts in a powerful performance as an alcoholic father grieving for the mysterious murder of his young daughter which caused his life to spiral out of control, losing his wife and having to rebuild his life.

Once an avid hunter, he is not a game warden at a secluded sanctuary. His life is back on a good track when a group of mysterious murders of young women. He joins forces with the local sheriff to track down the killer before their next victim is found.

The Silencing is beautifully shot. The loneliness of Coster-Waldau’s character comes through from the isolation and vast expanse of the wilderness.

I always seeing actors in roles that put their acting chops to the test. Fans of Game of Thrones should definitely see The Silencing. I hope to see more from director Robin Pront.

Written by Micah Ranum (Harvest Moon), the thriller was directed by Robin Pront (The Ardennes). The film starts Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (HBO’s “Game of Thrones), Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy) and Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince).

In THE SILENCING, a reformed hunter (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and a sheriff (Annabelle Wallis) are caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse when they set out to track a killer who may have kidnapped the hunter’s daughter five years ago.
