I had the chance to check out Train to Busan: Peninsula a few months back. The film

Peninsula is a truly amazing sequel. It does a nice job of world-building much like George Romero did with his zombie classics. The sequel is much like Empire Strikes Back, which is a sequel that is much better than the first film.

Many times you see a sequel and are like, “okay, that was meh” and for good reason. Let’s face it a majority of sequels really hit the mark and even fewer films surpass the quality of the first film. Instead of being confined to the train like in the first film, Peninsula takes place on, wait for it, a peninsula that is crawling with zombies.

Train to Busan: Peninsula Synopsis:

Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.
