Before I go into the review, I want to state that I have never seen the original films. I actually think this is a good thing. Wrong Turn is going to remain one of the best horror films for 2021.

Wrong Turn is directed by Mike P. Nelson and stars Charlotte Vega, Adain Bradley, Bill Sage, Emma Dumont, Dylan McTee, Daisy Head, Tim DeZarn, and Matthew Modine.

If Deliverance and part Red State had a baby, it would Wrong Turn. These movies are great in their own right, but even moreawesome when blended together in the form of this film.

A group of friends goes woefully underprepared for a hike into the Appalachian trail while also pissing off the locals. This setup is the reason that I consider the film to be heavily influenced by films such as Deliverance.

I am always terrified when it comes to the idea of being trapped out in the middle of nowhere without the ability to contact help. Wrong Turn pushed me to the edge of my limits, much more so than In The Earth.

Woefully underprepared to me is not having a manually rechargeable power source, extra clothing, and the best fricking shoes possible. The shoe bit has always been a thing for me since watching Die Hard.

Lately, I have been on a horror movie binge. I guess I should say that this binge has been going on for about 8 months. There are some great films that I have watched, but have not reviewed on the site. I plan on continuing to watch as many as I can on Arrow Player and Shudder.

Wrong Turn is a definite purchase on VOD. Keep reading to check out the trailer.

Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen (Charlotte Vega) and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return— unless Jen’s father (Golden Globe® nominee Matthew Modine) can reach them in time.
