THE DEAD ZONE Blu-ray Review

Scream Factory has done it again. The Dead Zone is a must-own for fans of Cronenberg, King, and of course Christopher Walken.

I remember watching this when I was younger and being terrified. Mainly because of the ice skating portion.

A man wakes up from a coma, only to realize that he has psychic abilities. Abilities that make him envision what the future holds for that person.

This actually reminds me of Unbreakable. Note that I’m not comparing the two films. I’m merely stating that the both Bruce Willis’ character and Walken have the same abilities.

The Dead Zone is different because it leans much more towards the horror genre. In fact, one sequence is the most terrifying scenes on screen. Mainly because of the implement involved.

Scream Factory knocks every release out of the park. There are so many special features on this disc. I haven’t even been able to get through half of the bonus material.

Synopsis:

School teacher Johnny Smith (Chistopher Walken) had a beautiful fiancée, a rewarding career and a fortunate life … until one tragic accident changed everything. After slamming into an 18-wheeler, Johnny is plunged into a five-year coma. When he awakens, he finds his true collision was with destiny – he now has the remarkable gift (or curse) of seeing into the future. From horror master Stephen King and Director David Cronenberg (Scanners, Dead Ringers), this supernatural thriller turns an everyday guy into a reluctant hero … saving children in danger, helping the police and finding a serial killer. But Johnny’s next vision may be his most terrifying yet …
