Copshop Blu-ray Review

Joe Carnahan delivers a balls to the wall action thriller with COPSHOP. The film stars Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder (the star of the film) and a slew of other character actors. My favorite of which is Toby Huss as the rival hitman. He’s over the top and I am here for it.

Alexis Louder is definitely one to watch. She is tough as nails as a rookie cop who is a badass with a six shooter.

Carnahan is known for fast paced action, witty lines laced with profanities, and great costuming. This delivers all of this and more.

Copshop is a common term for a police station. The film takes place primarily in a police station. This is one of the nicest small town police stations I’ve seen in a movie. Then again, I’m basing this on movies like First Blood and the like.

The makeup was so good on Grillo, that at first I didn’t realize it was him when he had his hair down. Maybe I’m the only one, but Grillo is a great actor and is well suited for this type of movie.

Tearing through the Nevada desert in a bullet-ridden Crown Vic, wily con artist Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo) hatches a desperate plan to hide out from lethal hitman Bob Viddick (Gerard Butler): He sucker-punches rookie officer Valerie Young (Alexis Louder) to get himself arrested and locked up in a small-town police station. Jail can’t protect Murretto for long, and Viddick schemes his own way into detention, biding his time in a nearby cell until he can complete his mission. When the arrival of a competing assassin (Toby Huss) ignites all-out mayhem, mounting threats force Viddick to get creative if he wants to finish the job and escape the explosive situation.

COPSHOP stars Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, Toby Huss, Chad L. Coleman, Ryan O’Nan, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Robert Walker-Branchaud, Kaiwi Lyman, Christopher Michael Holley, Marshall Cook and Tracey Bonner. Mark Williams and Tai Duncan of Zero Gravity Management produce alongside Warren Goz and Eric Gold of Sculptor Media, Butler and Alan Siegel’s G-Base Productions and Joe Carnahan and Frank Grillo through their WarParty Films production banner. Executive producers are James Masciello, Matthew Sidari and Tom Ortenberg for Open Road Films.
