Beverly Hills Cop II Is The Best Film of the Franchise

Beverly Hills Cop II arrived on 4K recently. It was a release that I was excited to check out. In my opinion, Beverly Hills Cop II is the best film in the franchise.

When watching this you get exactly what you’re expecting. This sequel just ups the ante with even more action and even funnier sequences than the first film. You know the characters and have likely come to enjoy seeing it on screen. Eddie Murphy is hilarious in this sequel. Paul Reiser is funny in this role. Its still hard for me not to think of his scummy character from Aliens.

Reiser is great in Stranger Things, which definitely redeems him in my opinion. Judge Reinhold’s character reminds me of Tackleberry from the Police Academy.

About the Film:

The film arrived in UHD Blu-ray in a “35th Anniversary Edition” release on May 17th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by the late Tony Scott, starred Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Jürgen Prochnow, Ronny Cox, Brigitte Nielsen, Allen Garfield, Paul Reiser, Gilbert R. Hill, Paul Guilfoyle, and the late Dean Stockwell.

i was curious how this would look in 4K. Short answer, it’s fantastic! The colors are amazing in the strip club screened especially. That and the beautiful hues of the sky during the opening scene.

Tech Specs:

The disc has a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound mix. No bonus materials will be included with this release. It is most certainly worth noting, that this release will not include a Blu-ray, and instead just a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc along with a digital code (copy) of the film.
