The Untouchables is De Palma At His Best

I celebrate Brian De Palmas filmography, but it’s The Untouchables which sent me on a mission for other De Palma films. I have five favorite from his filmography. The Untouchables is one of my favorite.
The Untouchables is one of the best looking releases in 4K this year. Case and point, the beautiful intricacies of the Church’s ceiling in one of the most memorable scenes from the film.
Sean Connery is at his best post-Bond work. This is my favorite Kevin Costner movie. Andy Garcia is bad ass as the expert marksman. The final action sequence is everything because of him.
De Niro transformed himself into the brutal Al Capone. To fill the shoes of a larger than life person such as Capone, you need to have a larger than life actor. De Niro fits that bill.
My personal favorite character is Charles Walter Smith. He definitely kicks ass during the Canadian border sequence.
Here’s my top 5 Brian De Palma movies:
1. Blow Out
2. The Untouchables
3. Mission Impossible
4. Snake Eyes
5. Body Double
