Dragonslayer 4K Movie Review

I recently purchased the Dragonslayer 4K Steelbook for this and it looks and sounds great. I think it looked better now than when I saw this in theaters.

Dragonslayer is a classic fantasy film that takes us on a thrilling adventure through a mystical world of dragons and magic. Directed by Matthew Robbins and produced by Walt Disney Pictures in 1981, this film has become a cult classic among fans of the genre.

The story follows Galen, a young wizard’s apprentice, who is sent on a mission to slay the fierce dragon Vermithrax Pejorative, who has been terrorizing a kingdom for years. Along the way, he teams up with Valerian, a brave and determined warrior woman, and together they face numerous obstacles and challenges as they try to fulfill their mission.

One of the highlights of Dragonslayer is the incredible special effects, which still hold up today. The dragon itself is a magnificent creation, a terrifying and awe-inspiring creature that truly captures the imagination. The film’s use of practical effects and models rather than relying solely on CGI makes the dragon feel more real and tangible.

The acting in Dragonslayer is also top-notch, with standout performances from Peter MacNicol as Galen and Caitlin Clarke as Valerian. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable, and their growing relationship adds an emotional depth to the story. I actually did not realize that this was Peter MacNicol until this viewing. Once I realized it I could not stop noticing him because of his other characters.

Overall, Dragonslayer is a must-own for fans of fantasy and adventure films. It has everything you could want in a movie: thrilling action sequences, a compelling story, memorable characters, and stunning visual effects. It is a timeless classic that continues to captivate audiences to this day.
