I have been spending a lot of my free time watching movies lately. Most of them have been in the genre/horror realm. I decided to mix it up with the recent release The Tax Collector from director David Ayer (Training Day). I liked the movie. The only reasons, Shia Labeouf and I dig action movies. Sure, many of David Ayer movies have stereotypes galore. I personally do not look at films this way. I go into a movie with open eyes. For instance, I never popped in a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie hoping for the next film would have such a profound effect on my life that I would join a gymnastics troupe so that I could become better at doing the splits.
The same is true for a movie like this. Sure the story is one that we have heard a thousand times. Yes, the characters are cliche. I would like everyone to start looking at films from a different perspective. Each film that may be a rehash of a rehash is still unique in its own way.
Every actor brings a different method to their role. LaBeouf does not fuck around on the screen. Sure we have seen it before, but I enjoy watching his intensity.

The Tax Collector Synopsis:
David (Bobby Soto) and Creeper (Shia LaBeouf), are “tax collectors” for the crime lord Wizard, collecting his cut from the profits of local gangs’ illicit dealings. But when Wizard’s old rival returns to Los Angeles from Mexico, the business is upended, and David finds himself desperate to protect what matters more to him than anything else: his family.
