The Radio Dept. Cancel Upcoming North American Tour
After much deliberation, The Radio Dept. has decided to cancel their fall North American tour.
In a statement to the press, the band said:
“The Radio Dept. regretfully inform that they are forced to cancel the upcoming North American tour due to family related matters. Hope to see you in 2012.”
The band will remain in Sweden this fall and winter where they’ll be working on new music and we hope to have more to announce in 2012.
2011 has been a very active year for The Radio Dept., one of Sweden’s more elusive and influential artists. In January they releasedPassive Aggressive: Singles 2002-2010 – a double CD disc that compiled a selection of singles and EP tracks spanning their career. The release earned the band a slew of amazing press including an 8.2 by Pitchfork who went on to write, “It has a magnetic breeziness about it, and for all the early-2000s signifiers and the blown-out lo-fi production, it actually sounds five years ahead of its time.”
The band followed the release with a North American tour in the Spring and played several high profile US festivals including the Pitchfork Music Fest in Chicago, Seaport Music Festival in NYC, Sasquatch at The Gorge in WashingtonState and Coachella in Indio, CA.
