Colin Farrell and Paula Patton circle WARCRAFT

Warcraft may have it’s first cast additions in Colin Farrell and Paula Patton. Deadline reports that the actors are circling roles in the upcoming video game adaptation. No deals have been finalized yet, and Farrell may reportedly drop out. Negotiations will be wrapped up soon to meet the targeted production date in January 2014.

Duncan Jones is set to direct the adaptation of the popular role-playing game that “takes place in a medieval-like setting where players control avatars that take on gryphons, dragons, zombies, werewolves and elves. Time travel and alien worlds also are part of the mix.” The script was penned by Charles Leavitt. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni producing for Legendary along with Blizzard and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner.

The game first debuted in 1994 from Blizzard Entertainment. It has a huge following thanks to award-winning PC games and all sorts of cool products – action figures, clothing, comics, board games, and novels. World of Warcraft is a massive multiplayer online subscription game, one of the most popular games of it’s kind.

Farrell starred most recently in Epic and Dead Man Down, and will next be seen in Saving Mr. Banks. Patton starred recently in 2 Guns and will soon be seen in Baggage Claim. It does not make sense why Farrell would not star, it’s not like he has a whole bunch of films lined up on his plate.
