Toonami Brings Events Back in 2015 With Intruder 2, Help Make it Big

A history lesson.

14 years ago (14! Holy crap!), Toonami kicked off the first of their Total Immersion Events, entitled The Intruder. The Toonami headquarters ship, the Absolution, is invaded by an unknown enemy. TOM 1 is killed. TOM 2 is born. TOM 2 saves the day. You can just watch the whole thing in its entirety here, because I never personally saw it and I’m bad at describing it:

Ever since the rebirth of the block, the Toonami faithful have been clamoring for new events like this, and they’ve been assured by the crew that once it’s viable, it’ll happen. Well, hey, guess what? It’s viable.

The Toonami crew announced on their official Tumblr Wednesday that in 2015, events are back, and they’re starting ’em up with The Intruder 2, a sequel to the first-ever event that will tie back to the original (so study the original hard). There’s no exact date for the event outside of “next year” but the guys who run the Absolution are asking for your help this weekend:

Why are we telling you about this so early? Simple! WE NEED YOUR HELP. This weekend, we need every Toonami faithful to Tweet, FB post, Instagram, etc  the hashtag, “#intruder2.” The level of interest you guys show will determine how BIG the story we get to tell is. This adventure is in YOUR HANDS. Let us know if you’re excited for THE INTRUDER: PART 2 by posting about it, talking about it, and making your excitement known to the world! TOM and Sara are about to have their greatest adventure yet… and we promise, Toonami will not be the same.

So, this Saturday, during the block, crack open your social media things like you always do during Toonami, and use the hashtag provided, #intruder2. Get yourself hyped up, get everyone else hyped up, and help make this thing as big as it can possibly get. Because you wanted it, and it’s up to you to make it.

Hashtag it up. Only Toonami.
