Ben and Leah break up after four years. Normally you move out. That is if it’s not the beginning of a pandemic and you have nowhere to go.
I’m certain that this scenario happened during the pandemic to many couples. Breaking up is hard enough, but breaking up during the pandemic has to be even more challenging.
Coleman is great, but Vigliano is absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to see more from both of them.
I have been in similar situations. I broke up with my high school girlfriend who immediately started dating my friend. Pretty shitty. It was horrible because you constantly see them together at school which made me feel even more like shit.
Tim, played by Derrick Deblasis, would have been my nemesis, and a pretentious one at that. Deblasis nailed the part of hipster film fanatic that looks down on people who haven’t watched every Criterion film. If you ever hear me being condescending like this, you have my permission to punch me in the face.
The End Of Us is such a relatable film on the basis of breaking up alone. Add in the pandemic and it is much like a time capsule that will be here for years to come as a reminder of our past. Pretty fun that the film is about moving on. Society has changed forever, and that’s okay. We will always have love, loss of jobs, and the light at the end of the tunnel thanks to the ending of the film.
Synopsis:
After a savage breakup, two exes must continue living together when California issues its stay-at-home order for COVID-19. Now they’ll try to move on without moving out.
