Phil Lord and Chris Miller in talks to direct GHOSTBUSTERS 3
Ghostbusters 3 may have found it’s directors according to Nikki Finke. Ivan Reitman stepped down after the passing of Harold Ramis. Now it looks like Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie) are in talks to direct the long-gestating film.
The story has been rewritten to focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters to to make cameos. Filming is scheduled to begin next year in New York City. Die hard fans would rather see the Ghostbusters fans would like to see the franchise stop while it’s ahead (well kinda since Ghostbusters 2 was only so so).
I was extremely skeptical about 21 Jump Street and was not sure I’d enjoy The LEGO movie. Lord and Miller have had major luck with their latest films, all of which have grossed over $200 million at the box office. Consequently I have enjoyed each of their past three films. They are definitely solid directors that have an understanding of comedic timing that Ghostbusters 3 will need to be a hit.
