PIG Movie Review

I’m not surprised by how much I enjoyed Pig. I had to watch this so much that when my screener link did not work I bought the movie digitally.

Pig is written and directed Michael Sarnoski by and stars Nicolas Cage, Alex Wolff, and Alan Arkin.

Set in the Pacific Northwest, this slow burn grabbed me by my heartstrings from the start. I’m an animal lover and immediately fell in love with the pig.

Cage is a recluse who lives in the woods and hunts for truffles with his pet pig. I had not known that truffles were so expensive, but now I do.

Every week Alex comes to pick up truffles from Cage and drops off supplies. Their encounters are always brief and to the point.

Someone breaks into Robins house and steals his pet pig and beating him up in the process.

This sets off a journey into the underbelly of Poland in hopes of finding his pig. It’s a journey that I’m happy to take.

The growth of the friendship and the reintroduction of Robin into a world where life has moved on.

The script is fantastic and tells a story that’s unique and that creates engaging characters.

Pig will be watched for years to come. I can’t recommend this film enough.

PIG is now playing in theaters, and on PVOD August 3rd

A truffle hunter who lives alone in the Oregonian wilderness must return to his past in Portland in search of his beloved foraging pig after she is kidnapped.
