Live-Action DUMBO nabs Ehren Kruger To Pen the Script
Transformers; Age of Extinction scribe, Ehren Kruger, has been hired to pen the script for Disney’s live-action Dumbo movie. THR reports the Kruger will also serve as producer on the film along with Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion).
According to THR, the story “involves the adaptation of original movie adding a unique family story that parallels Dumbo’s story. Also, the studio believes that the current state of CG technology, live-action movies featuring a soaring pachyderm (or any animal for that matter) are a viability.”
Disney cast a spell on audiences with Maleficent, so it’s no surprise that there are more live-action adaptations of their animated classics to be on the horizon. Disney has a live-action version of Cinderella scheduled for March 13, 2015, is in pre-production on The Jungle Book to be directed by Jon Favreau, and recently tapped Bill Condon to direct a live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.
Age of Extinction was horrible, yet still the best Transformers movie made. Kruger has also worked on 2011’s Dark of the Moon and 2009’s Revenge of the Fallen, as well as Arlington Road, Skeleton Key and The Ring.
