Silence of the Lambs 4K Blu-ray Review

I remember watching The Silence of the Lambs with my parents when it was initially released. This may seem odd, but then again I watched and enjoyed Jodie Foster in another “heavy“ film, The Accused.
I decided to ask my wife if she remembered seeing this in theaters. She could immediately recall that she and her family watched The Silence of the Lambs while on vacation in Texas.
This would not be my choice for a vacation movie to watch with the family. This just goes to show how much awareness that the studio created for the film. This was before the internet, so all promotion was done through other channels. The films would get a massive bump up or down when people watched the movie and spread the word.
The entire cast is phenomenal. Hopkins and Foster smolder on screen like a feast ready to be devoured with a nice Chianti.
Hopkins embodies the character of Hannibal Lecter and is terrifying in the role. Foster is great in the role of the young agent, Clarice.
Kino Lorber has done it again with this 4K release. The picture quality is beautiful. It does a great job of amplifying the colors. There’s so many dark scenes that look even better than the original film I saw in theaters.
Synopsis:
Screen legends Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins deliver sensational, Oscar-winning performances in this spellbinding thriller based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon, Hannibal). A psychopath nicknamed Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine, Heat) is murdering women across the Midwest. Believing it takes one to know one, the FBI sends trainee Clarice Starling (Foster, The Accused) to interview a demented prisoner who may provide clues to the killer’s actions. That prisoner is psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins, Nixon), a brilliant, diabolical cannibal who agrees to help Starling only if she’ll feed his morbid curiosity with details of her own complicated life. As their relationship develops, Starling is forced to confront not only her own hidden demons, but also an evil so powerful that she may not have the courage—or strength—to stop it! This terrifying masterpiece co-starred Scott Glenn (The Challenge) and garnered five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Jonathan Demme (Philadelphia) and Best Adapted Screenplay for Ted Tally (Before and After), only the third film in history to sweep these five categories.
