New York, NY – Kirtland Records is set to nationally release Sarah Jaffe’s first ever EP – Even Born Again – on March 8th. The decision to put this out comes on the heels of an incredibly successful year with her debut album Suburban Nature – which made Jaffe one of 2010’s breakout artists – topping year end lists for USA Today, Paste, Amazon and more. Even Born Again was originally released in 2008 and only available through independent local record stores in her home State of Texas. Now the rest of the US will have their chance to listen to the earliest official recorded music from Jaffe.

Following the March 8th release of the EP, Sarah will perform several sets at Austin’s annual South by Southwest music festival. Jaffe has been selected as one of the artists to grace the stage for Paste’s hotly sought after event on Thursday, March 17th at 3pm at The Stage on Sixth, she’s slated to perform Friday, March 18th at Momo’s as part of the listener supported Austin public radio station KUT’s showcase and on Saturday March 19th at the Ghost Room for the New Granada Day Party.
Even Born Again, like Suburban Nature, was produced by John Congleton (Shearwater, Polyphonic Spree, Explosions In the Sky) and even with its initial limited distribution, the EP earned Sarah numerous accolades including a feature on NPR’s “Song of the Day” for the title track and awards at the 2008 Dallas Observer Music Awards: “Best Folk/Acoustic Act,” “Best Female Vocalist,” and “Best Solo Act.” The reissue of the EP will feature new cover art as well as the Working for a Nuclear Free City remix of “Two Intangibles Can’t Be Had.”
The past year and a half has seen Jaffe touring both Europe and the US. She started things off with fellow Dentonites Midlake overseas and then headed out in the US on several consecutive tours including stints with Norah Jones, Lou Barlow and Ben Weaver. As Sarah explores new sounds and directions with her music in 2011, fans will get a chance to see where this talented young woman started with Even Born Again – out March 8th on Kirtland Records.
